Our method
Above all else, a training course should be effective. So we have no standard answers, but we do have a wealth of experience that we will draw on. We will choose the best approach after close consultation with you. What exactly is it that will benefit you?
We will develop your private or in-company training on the basis of the training goals that you specify. To get a good understanding of the issues you face, we will ask each student to provide us with their own texts or practical examples before the start of the course. If the course focuses on speaking skills, our trainer will also carry out an intake interview with the student to determine his/her entry level of English or Dutch. We will analyse this input and wherever possible, we will use it to develop lesson material.
Learning by doing
Our method during training courses is pro-active. Of course, we will need to include some theory, but the emphasis is on practice. We invite active participation from the students: they will do plenty of exercises that will help them to write or re-write their texts, optimize their presentation skills or improve their speaking.
Feedback
An important element of our training courses is giving and receiving feedback. The students not only receive constructive feedback from the trainer, but also learn to evaluate one another. After all, if you can give effective feedback to a fellow student, you really have learned a lot.
The Kolb Learning Cycle
Our training courses are based on a modern-day version of David Kolb’s learning cycle. Very briefly, each session has a clear focus and a central topic, and follows the basic cycle of needing (reflection), knowing (theory), understanding (abstract exercises) and applying (practical exercise).
Evaluation
At the end of the course, we will ask students to give their opinions on an evaluation form and we will let you know how our trainer thought the course went. The aim of the evaluation is to identify points for improvement and transform these into a possible follow-up course.
