Presenting in English workshop

Target group

The workshop is designed for professionals who wish to give English-language presentations about their work. Those interested in participating in this workshop should already have a subject in mind for a presentation. Previous course participants have included honours students from the AMC university hospital, and employees from Sanquin and Statistics Netherlands.

What will you learn?

The Presenting in English workshop will teach you how to get your information across clearly, correctly and in a well-structured manner. On completion of the workshop, you will also be able to express yourself in English with greater confidence.

Course content

We will draw up a training programme based on your personal learning needs. Below you can find examples of some of the subjects typically covered during such a workshop.

  • Preparing a presentation (PowerPoint and/or poster presentation)
  • Vocabulary and idiom specific to presenting in English
  • Developing fluency
  • Structuring a presentation
  • Pronunciation and intonation
  • Brushing up on grammar rules, e.g. verb tenses, modal verbs (could, should, would) and sentence structure
  • Body language

Types of training courses
