Translation process part 1: project coordination

The Taalcentrum-VU translation process consists of three steps: project coordination, the translation itself and revision. In this three-part series on the translation process, we explain what’s involved in each step.


What is project coordination?

Once you have submitted your translation request, our project coordinators will get back to you the same day. They will give you an indication of the costs and deadline. They are also your first point of contact with us. As soon as you haveagreed to our quote, they will search for the best in-house or freelance translator for your assignment. Your translation will then be scheduled, taking into account your preferred date of delivery. Should it not be possible to meet the deadline, we will let you know right away.

Why is project coordination important?

Project coordinators are the key figures in the translation agency. They keep an eye on your entire project and schedule all translation assignments. Most of the time, multiple projects are running simultaneously. Thanks to project coordination, all processes are steered in the right direction. Project coordination is the link between supply and demand; you have a translation request, they know who is the most suitable for the job and when the translator will be available.


Can I get in direct contact with a translator?

Of course you can. However, at our translation agency the project coordinator keeps an overview of your entire project, which is why the coordinator is your first point of contact. The project coordinator manages your project from start to finish and is often responsible for delivery of your translation. And if you have any questions about the final product, your coordinator will be glad to put you in touch with the translator.
